Seems they can listen to your conversations even if you aren't even using your cell phone. Here's the link to the story.

Oh, but it's ok because according to U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan “the “roving bug” was legal because federal wiretapping law is broad enough to permit eavesdropping even of conversations that take place near a suspect's cell phone.”

And it doesn't seem to matter if it is on or off either.

Yeah, well … huge difference is that the technology was utilized for crime bosses, i.e. lawbreakers, evildoers. Are we who petition for redress of grievance in that same class? I think not. Does/would the FBI think so? I think doubly not. [IMHO]

Yes, all true … AND … I am not yet willing to “throw in the towel”. The initial reason for the post was to begin to prepare myself in the event that I am threatened physically or legally… yet I don't even know if, how or when that event would manifest. I don't know the sequence action of their continuous letters and which one, in particular, w/b definite indicator that the hammer is about to fall.

I will fight as long as I can with the Administrative Process-have been for three years-but when the lawbreakers come after me, what then? If I can't find a way to protect myself or my family then I must acquiesce. God help me, God help us all.

RIGHT! It will take a lot more than luck to learn enough to stay free. Thanks but no thanks. I do not purport to be a lawyer and it is certainly too late to task myself into tackling the volumes of what I would need to protect myself. This is certainly not a “cop out”. It is, instead, a realistic admission of what I can and cannot do, i.e. can't very well tackle the “million pound guerilla”. Thanks, sincerely, for your reply as now I must reconsider just how far my time, finances and guts will take me as a legal petitioner.
