* How long the email was read for

* How many times your email was opened

* If your email was forwarded, or opened on a different computer

Well, even paranoids have enemies! We should all disable HTML in our email clients as a matter of course. That is how the above is accomplished, by hiding a tiny 1×1 pixel image in your text that reports your activity back to a foreign server.

Want to be even more secure? Don't use Microsoft software at all! Start weaning yourself away by using a web-standards browser such as Firefox or Opera. If the earth doesn't fall out of the heavens, then try the next step, an open-source operating system such as Ubuntu, MEPIS, or a zillion others.
