Tax Collector Stoned
2 Chronicles 10:18 Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute (tax collection); and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
When taxes became outrageous in Israel, the northern states formed a “Stone Party,” pelted the government's tax collector, and sent the king racing in his chariot back to the nation's capital in order to save his life. Interestingly, God sided with the assassins and intervened to keep the arrogant king from punishing the rioters (2 Chronicles 11:2-4).
As America faces the largest tax hike in history (January 2012), I recommend we start a new political party . . . Let's be Biblical and call it, “The Stone Party.”
