§ 4262. Definition of taxable transportation
(c) Definitions
For purposes of this section—
(1) Continental United States
The term “continental United States”
means the District of Columbia and the States
other than Alaska and Hawaii.

(f) The term continental United States
means the District of Columbia and the several
States, except Alaska and Hawaii.
NOTE:
The above section DOES NOT define the term "State", but the correct
definition is found in
4 U.S.C.
§110(d), and it means a federal State, not a state of the union!
