Obsidionalibus coronis donati. Ammian. xxiv. 4. Either
Julian or his historian were unskilful antiquaries. He
should have given mural crowns. The obsidional were the
reward of a general who had delivered a besieged city (Aulus
Gellius, Noct. Attic. v. 6).
