Ammianus remarks that the primitive Assyria, which
comprehended Ninus (Nineveh) and Arbela, had assumed the
more recent and peculiar appellation of Adiabene; and he
seems to fix Teredon, Vologesia, and Apollonia, as the
extreme cities of the actual province of Assyria.
